ABOUT:

I worked for 9 years as a support worker with people with severe and enduring mental illness in an adult mental health recovery service for the Waikato DHB. I have also spent 2 years working in the youth mental health sector.
In my years working in mainstream mental health I have learnt and worked with many different theories and therapeutic approaches, that have informed how I deliver therapy with my own clients. It has also given me a solid foundation in best practice – client lead, strengths based, confidential, responsible.

My own lifelong struggle with symptoms of Complex Post Traumatic Stress (CPTSD) drove me to search for approaches that would really, deeply improve my mental, physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.

Through my personal research I was led to the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model of therapy and connected with it immediately.
Since beginning my own therapy through an Internal Family System therapist, I have experienced unprecedented improvements in my mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing far surpassing any other therapy I had tried previously in its effectiveness.
Through practicing IFS with clients, I have witnessed people access and process deep emotional wounds and find more freedom, purpose and wellbeing on the other side.

Learning about and training in Integrated Attachment Theory (IAT) has accelerated the gains I experience (both personally and with clients) through using IFS. It offers a framework for clearly understanding the dynamics of relationships and practical tools for improving those dynamics.
I find the tools offered through the IAT model compliment IFS and offer clients a way of working with their parts in between coaching sessions.

Reconnecting with my Christian faith has, for me, been the missing link in my healing journey. Having daily communion with my Higher Power brings me immense comfort and guidance.
If Christianity is something you would like to explore or incorporate into our work together, I will happily accommodate this.

However, I can work respectfully with a person of any faith or those with none in particular.

I see my practice as a collaboration where I offer a safe non-judgmental, compassionate and supportive container for you to explore your inner world, come to truly understand yourself and what drives any unhelpful patterns and find solutions to create a healthier more authentic life.
